Written on Death to James White Parkway: Stopping it in South Knoxville is Just Half the Job:

"I drive it maybe half a dozen times a year, only when I’m obliged to, and it’s not enough to be absolutely confident about where it’s leading me."

I drive it everyday as a resident of South Knoxville who works in West Knoxville. If it were demolished, I'd have to take the Henley or Gay Street Bridge to get to the interstate every time I left home. That's several additional minutes to my commute ANYWHERE. Why should I have to fight downtown traffic if I don't work in downtown?

In addition to my own self interest above, when all this waterfront development (finally) happens (if ever), how are you going to get to Suttree Landing or the new condos and apartments at the old Baptist Hospital site? All that traffic would have to go through downtown too.

Expanding the parkway was a bad idea. Demolishing it is a bad idea too.
