Written on Tennessee Democrats Stirring?:

It is too bad tennessee don't vote on the basis of who should be the best for the state. no tennessee usually votes based on party lines. not the best choice.

Written on Gun Crazy:

Lets see you can be thrown in jail and have your drivers license taken away for drinking and driving - but if the "guns in bars" law is passed one can have a few drinks and carry a gun in a public establishment. We know drinking alcohol impairs one's judgment - yet we are allowing people to carry a weapon in bars and drink? That is a good reason to stay home. we live in one of the safest countries in the world - yet some people don't realize this. Yes, yes of course you have the right to defend yourself - however it's not like there are robbers and bad guys around every corner. And why is everyone bowing down to the few who are so paranoid that they have to pack a weapon in public to feel safe? Go see a shrink - we will all be much safer if you do.

Written on The Working Unemployed:

I agree being the football coach that was retired and the incoming football coach are not reflections of the economy as a whole but are in an alternate universe. Now that I think about it I would probably weep too if I was given 6 million dollars to leave. I know, I know he is a true Volunteer and it was a difficult situation for him. I am not without compassion. Heck i would weep if I was given a million and told to hit the road. Back to the article.
This economy is going to crunch marginal business and ones that were not operating lean and mean to begin with. I don't think it is the law of the jungle but the law of the market place. However, loans were made, cars have been sold, and life will go on even with the working unemployed. Not like we may have anticipated - but hey I just finished reading Scott Simon's book "Pretty Birds" and unbelievable fictional account of life in Sarajevo in 1992. We are still doing fine - it may not be a barrel of laughs but fine. Should someone start singing "Tomorrow, tomorrow" no save it for about a year or so.
