Yeah, JJ, tell the "little lady" to shut up and tend to the homefires. How charmingly Southern of you! I hope "Ms. Katie" sues everyone from the alleged dealer and the sheriff's department all the way up to the pharma that made these addictive pills. Oh yeah, it's time for East Tennessee officials to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st Century. Bunch of pot-bellied, undereducated rubes...

I think the Catholic Church needs to come to terms with decades of priests sexually and physically abusing children before it claims any moral authority on anything.

Keep shooting yo'sef's in the feets, wingnuts. Maybe you'll miss and blow away what little brains you have, and Tennessee can finally move into the 21st Century; better nine years late than never.

Written on “Death Panels”?:

The difference with conservative right-wingers is that big business is sanctified to be heavy-handed because the right to make billions of dollars trumps the government and people's right to healthcare. Government heavy-handedness excepted in cases of waging war in foreign lands and finding WMDs ("where are they, where are they? We need another trillion $ to find them").

And let me add a comment: Everyone please don't listen to that 107.5 The River if you happen to be in Nash-vegas. What a bunch of insulting idiots.

Good for you and great writing, Kali. You've been through a hell of a lot more than I have, but I'm a 5'9" male who has weighed as much as 400 lbs. and now, several years later, trying to bust to below the 330's through the diet-and-exercise routine. I feel and look much better, as you do, but it's disconcerting knowing I have 168 or so lbs. to lose before I reach the Weight Watchers "goal" weight, which is a good program, BTW. Believe it or not, it's less restrictive than many others, but I'm wondering what its limits are for an obese person. Weight loss progress has slowed, but people tell me it's remarkable I've kept 50-plus lbs. off for so long. Like you, I know this is my last shot to deal with my health issues before they deal with me. I'm also wondering whether to find a bariatric specialist as my primary care physician. My current doctor, pleasant as he is, doesn't seem to have a clue other than looking at numbers on charts and repeating the same old mantra. Nothing I don't know already. Never mind that my other stats like cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure are good. Enough about me, please keep us updated on your progress, Kali. And that moron punk that insulted you should've been reported to UT authorities and disciplined. Don't UT students have a code of conduct to follow that includes not calling strangers names??
