As a former resident of Knoxville and alumnus of Whittle (1976-1983) I thoroughly enjoyed your article. My wife and I, with the encouragement of Knox Heritage, were instrumental in getting a major share of Fort Sanders designated on the National Register - over the opposition of our Congressman and a number of lifelong residents who thought it was a Communist conspiracy to deny them their propitty rights. Great to see the Green House, Daylight Building, Market Square and funky old Gay Street still around 30 years later. Well done!
