Written on Letter: South Knoxville Doesn't Need No Stinkin' Pedestrian Bridge:

in response to MO:

Thanks for the explanation. Not having watched the movie I didn't get the reference.

Personally I have mixed feelings about the need for a bridge, given the cost. My biggest concern is connecting it to the nether regions of the UT campus and think it might get more year round use if it were closer to downtown.

This could have been incorporated with the Henley Bridge. And shops were brought up as an addition on Henley Street. Lakeshore is now the area for music, museum, shops and the historic buildings at Lakeshore could be renovated for this and not demolished. Some had new roofs put on. There would also be ample room for the parking as this person is indicating for a museum. Suttree Park will not be that large an area, but there is parking for the park in the plan. And in the future there is to be a nature wetland park too. People have tried over several years to open a cafe/bakery on Sevier in one of the buildings. This has not been able to happen yet at least as of this week. It is nice for people to comment on their way out.

Written on Enact That Waterfront Plan!:

For all that has been suggested music, museum, shops and the ample parking, you need to look to the Lakeshore Mental Institute property now owned by the city to hold all of this. The historic buildings at Lakeshore could be renovated for most, including a museum. There is music at Ijams, Market Square, Chris Ruth Steakhouse, the new housing complex by the JWP and also from the boats that are below the greenway and train tracks. There is a plan, there will be parking for Suttree Park and in time the nature wetlands park which will be great for kids to be impressed by nature itself by the river.
