I work for the Red White and Food campaign and would like to address a couple points.
Mississippi, Arkansas and Kentucky have low per capita consumption because, like TN, those states don't allow wine in food stores. It doesn't make sense to include those states when calculating the growth expected if Tennessee were to open the market.
Who will buy this wine? The same NIAAA study that bquillman references shows that wine consumption is double in TN's border states that allow sales in food stores compared to border states that don't. Here's our blog post with more info: http://redwhiteandfoodblog.com/2011/d...
