Written on Mr. Positivity: UT Athletic Director Dave Hart:

I was on the Athletics Board in 2008 and would like to give some positive input concerning Mike Hamilton. Though I did not agree with firing Coach Fulmer, there was a huge amount of pressure on Hamilton to do so from many powerful groups and individuals. The hiring of Kiffin, in retrospect, looks bad. He is hated by our fans for leaving when and how he did, but as I understand that possibility was covered in his contract for the USC job to be an out. (I'm not positive about that.) We thought Kiffin was cocky with a "California" attitude, but I suspect that if he had led us back to the top of the football world like it appears he has done for Southern Cal, we would have learned to love him. School's still out concerning the Dooley hire, but he seems to be on the right track. Nobody can question that hiring Pearl was a great decision. Who could have known that the ultimate mistakes would have happened. Also, the athletic facilities were taken to new heights under Hamilton's leadership and the money was raised to pay for them. This is not intended to be negative toward Mr. Hart as I have not met him. I just want to ask that we be fair in our assesments of Mike Hamilton. Incidentally, I do have questions about how the women's programs have been absorbed, but will wait for awhile and give it a chance before making a judgement. Joan and Pat really had a great organization. JJackson
