42nd Annual Jubilee Festival

7 p.m., Laurel Theater. $12.

Jubilee Community Arts holds its annual weekend-long festival with music by Daron Douglas, Check Engine, Possum Riot, Leah Gardner, and more, with jam sessions all weekend. An old harp singing session and potluck will be held on Sunday.

Saturday, March 9

Turkish Coffee Hour

3 p.m.-5 p.m., Knoxville Turkish Cultural Center (7035 Middlebrook Pike). $10.

Yes, we do have a Turkish Cultural Center in Knoxville, and it's opening its doors to the public for a special coffee hour. Come to learn how to cook Turkish coffee and "enjoy the beautiful art of water marbling" (nail painting). Plus: home-made baklava!

Dr. E.V. Davidson Teen Step Show

7 p.m., Knoxville Civic Auditorium. $8-$10

This eighth-annual step extravaganza sponsored by the city invites teens from around the region to compete with their best moves for cash prizes.

Sunday, March 10

2013 Annual Used Book Sale

1 p.m.-6 p.m., Knoxville Convention and Exhibition Center (the one underneath the Holiday Inn World's Fair Park).

It's on, bibliophiles! The annual Friends of the Knox County Public Library book sale opens to the public today. (It ends on Sunday, March 17.) More than 100,000 fiction and non-fiction books will be on sale for $1 to $2. Physical media rulez!!! Become a member and you can get a sneak preview on Saturday:
