An Evening for Champions

Want to fire up your inner Vol? Then join coaches Phil Fulmer and Bobby Bowden at this celebration of the 1999 Fiesta Bowl National Championship game's 15th anniversary. You'll get to see video highlights from the 1998 season and the championship game, plus commentary from the coaches and players. Spirit of Nations Powwow

10 a.m.-8 p.m., Chilhowee Park, Jacob Building. $5 adults/$1 children.

The 175th anniversary of the Trail of Tears is commemorated with this powwow sponsored by the non-profit Indian Creek Productions. The festival will include traditional Cherokee dancing, a Cherokee language class, arts and crafts, a children's area, and a blowgun competition (!).

Sunday, August 11

"Steven Spielberg, Historian? Emancipating Lincoln"

2 p.m., East Tennessee History Center. Free.

Get a free screening of Steven Spielberg's 2012 historical drama Lincoln, then stick around for a discussion led by William E. Hardy, a lecturer in the history department at Lincoln Memorial University and staff member at the East Tennessee Historical Society.
