TELLICO SUMMER SOLSTICE HALF MARATHON & 5K RUNS

Runs will be on area roads and park paths and includes runs of 13.1 mile, 3.1 mile, and .4 mile Kid's to go along with the popular Tellico Sprint triathlon.

GREGORY BALD VIA LONG HUNGRY RIDGE

7 am at South Maryville Walmart to carpool

It's azalea time on top of Gregory Bald. This hike to the bald is via the longer, less traveled route. Rated difficult due to the distance (15.7 miles), elevation gain, and potential heat. Lunch on the bald, returning via the Wolf Ridge Trail.

Mt. Rogers NRA and adjacent Grayson Highlands State Park, in southwest Virginia, make for one of the most scenic backpacking areas in the southeast, with huge open grassy meadows fringed by spruce trees and rhododendron bushes, usually flowering in June.

Ijams Paddle-Abouts are great outings for beginners or younger paddlers (even first-timers) just wanting to learn the basics of canoing. Join naturalist Stephen Lyn for this early morning (before the heat of the day) paddle-about in Mead's Quarry Lake.

Grab your favorite four-legged friend and join Ijams' veterinarian, Dr. Louise Conrad, as she walks her own canine companions. She'll review good doggy etiquette at the park and help owners understand the special safety concerns for dogs in nature.

This hike goes around Toll Creek, through the forest, and then to a boardwalk along the Tennessee River where we will see a bat cave.

Does your dog like water and have a high toy drive? We will have three days of dock diving fun. Friday 4-6pm we will have "give DockDogs a try" where you can try it out and see if your dog will jump off the dock. On Saturday we will host qualifying rounds of Big Air at 10, 12 and 2 and Extreme Vertical at 4. On Sunday we will host qualifying rounds of Big Air at 10 & 12 and Speed Retrieve at 2 with finals at the end of the day.

Practice session at Wild Wing Cafe with a practice coach to help out. Participants must sign the waiver and then there will be a rotation. Every dog gets two jumps per turn, or if your dog is new, will get 2-3 minutes per turn with the coach.

OAKES FARM SUMMER SOLSTICE 7K

Beautiful and challenging cross-country course on the 130-acre Oakes Farm in Corryton, TN with views of House Mountain and Clinch Mountain. The course is all off road.

FAMILY CAMPOUT AT IJAMS

River Sports Outfitters and Ijams Nature Center

Join River Sports Outfitters as they host a family campout at Ijams Nature Center. Families will have the opportunity to camp near Mead's Quarry Lake, as well as participate in fun outdoor activities such as slack lines, night hikes, movies and more! Spend some time under the stars and get back to nature with these fun family campouts.

Join us for a celebration of the solstice! Yes, it's that crazy time of year when we experience the longest day and the shortest night. Ijams will be celebrating with activities like creating sundials, cooking s'mores in solar ovens, and catching fireflies. We'll even be building a celebratory fire in our fire pit so you can roast a hot dog with us and enjoy the evening!

Climbing Technique I is your next step in learning how to indoor rock climb. During this course you'll practice skills and techniques for improving your movement and balance. You must be belay certified through The Climbing Center prior to taking this class. Also, it's recommended that you take "Intro to Gym Climbing Class" first; however, it's not mandatory.

Join us for a hike at Burgess Falls and Cummins Falls State Parks. Meet at the parking area of Panera Bread on Peters Road at 7:45 am to carpool. We will do a 1.5-mile hike at Burgess Falls then a 3-mile hike at Cummins Falls. Bring a lunch picnic to enjoy at the waterfall - swimming is optional!

Great Smoky Mountains Regional Greenway Council and Knoxville Regional TPO are creating a plan to link West Knoxville and Knox County to Oak Ridge via greenway trails. This will be the first public meeting for the plan.

PATRIOTIC BIKE PARADE

Judging for the best decorated bike contest will begin at 6 pm on Market Square in front of the stage. The parade will begin at 6:30 pm on Union Avenue at Market Square and parade down Gay Street to Magnolia and back down Gay Street.

This is a great way to get started in paddling and to advance your skills if you are already boating. This year's courses included: Beginner and Advanced Beginner instruction in whitewater kayak and canoe; intermediate instruction for kayak and canoe; and Kayak touring classes.

KNOXVILLE TOUR DE CURE

American Diabetes Association

Tour de Cure is designed for anyone from the occasional to the experienced cyclist with routes from 10-mile family rides, 25 mile, 40 mile, 62 to 100-mile century rides. The route will feature rest stops with food to fuel the journey and volunteers to cheer riders on.

MADDRON BALD LOOP

This loop hike begins in the Cosby campground and climbs 3,000 feet along the Snake Den Ridge Trail to its junction with the Maddron Bald Trail, then turns west and descends to Albright Grove for lunch. Afterwards, continues north to Gabes Mountain Trail and follow it east past Hen Wallow Falls to the campground. Hike 17.3 miles; rated difficult.

Come support Housetops 4 Haiti and enjoy a nice summer morning in downtown Knoxville. H4H is partnering with Total Race Solutions to host this event. This event is part of the "Run & See TN Grand Prix Series" and the "Soles of the City Series." Part of the proceeds and 100 percent of the sponsorship money goes directly to the ministry of H4H.

NINJA 5K

The Ninja 5K is a timed fun run designed to be purely about fun and exercise. You can jab-step, kick-walk, tiger-trot, or be fast as lightning if you choose. The course is very flat and safe. All ages are invited to join us in this event, and yes, you should dress for success! Ninja costumes are highly encouraged and almost required! Join us early for martial arts demonstrations like Fruit Ninjas, ninja face painting, and more!
