GET ON THE LOCAL TRAILS HIKE

8:45 am at Cracker Barrel Strawberry Plains exit off I-40 to carpool

The hike is 4-5 miles with an option to bring lunch and swimsuits for afterwards.

SATURDAY, JULY 26

BACKPACK, JOYCE KILMER SLICKROCK WILDERNESS, NC

Hike along Big Fat Branch and then follow Slickrock Creek to beautiful Wildcat Falls. The 4-mile trip in is moderate, but has several potentially deep creek crossings. Camp near the falls and enjoy a swim in the deep pool at the base. Rated moderate.

SOUTH KNOXVILLE URBAN WILDERNESS LOOP

Smoky Mountain Hiking Club

8 am at Meads Quarry

Hike a moderate 6-mile loop with the option for others in the group to add as many miles as wanted after the hike is over. Bring water and wear sturdy shoes.

OAK RIDGE VELO CLASSIC

9 am at Horizon Center in Oak Ridge

The 2014 edition of the Oak Ridge Velo Classic will be hosting the Tennessee State Road Race Championship! In addition to Saturday's road race, there will also be a Saturday afternoon time trial and Sunday Criterium. New for 2014 is the ORV Wellness festival and citizen's ride that will ride a loop of the race course.

Enjoy a mix of traditional Pilates and yoga, working the whole body while relaxing the mind. Now add the addition of balance from the board and tranquility of the lake and nature. Experience not necessary.

KAYAK SKILLS

Course covers safety, dealing with boat traffic, boat fit, and proper paddling posture for duration. On the water they will cover launching, landing, and some advanced strokes that make the boat go straight and turn more efficiently. Paddling safety will be stressed. In addition to these skills, you will learn about the ecosystem and the local history.

Come camp out at Ijams! They'll have a variety of activities: slack-lines, night hikes and stargazing. Each event will be different.

SUNDAY, JULY 27

XTERRA PANTHER CREEK OFF-ROAD TRIATHLON

Dirty Bird Events and River Sports Outfitters

8 am at Panther Creek State Park

The course is challenging enough for a seasoned athlete yet gentle enough for the beginner as it winds its way around one of the state's most beautiful parks. A two-lap swim and bike ride make this a very spectator friendly race.

Splits into 2 groups: "A" ride - 20-30 miles at 18-21 mph pace and "B" ride at 14-17 mph (no one gets dropped)

Tuesday:

9 am at French Memorial Park with Smoky Mountain Wheelmen Bicycle Club

Social road ride - distance and time depends on riders - no one gets dropped

9:30 am at Knoxville Bicycle Company

Social 24-mile ride depending on group

30-40 miles splits into 2 groups: intermediate pace at 14/17 and fast at 18/20 mph

Thursday:

Divides into 2 groups: Group "B" social pace 12/16 mph no one gets dropped; Group "A" is a 2-hour fast paced ride averaging 18/20 mph

6 pm at Fountain City Pedaler

Divides into groups covering all levels - 25-35 mile options, no drop. After ride: bring camp chair and something to grill with beverage of your choice.

6 pm at Coulter's Bridge with Knox Revolution Women's Cycling Club

Pace will be 10-14 mph (group C) route is 18-miles - no one gets dropped

6:15 pm at Echelon Bicycles

30-35 miles at an 18/19 mph pace with regrouping
