Despite, the ever-tightening state budget, the University of Tennessee has big things in mind for its Knoxville campus. You can hear about them and provide your own thoughts at a public meeting on the campus master plan from 4:30-6 p.m. this Thursday, April 21, at the UT Visitors Center.
The master plan (which you can read online at masterplan.utk.edu) was drawn up over the past 15 months by a committee of campus administrators, faculty members, and one student representative. It includes recommendations for the expansion of Strong Hall, the construction of three new laboratory/classroom buildings, and the continued redesign of public space to make the campus more pedestrian-friendly and push vehicle traffic to its perimeter. There would also be a new, 700-bed residence hall along Andy Holt Avenue.
