Good Pie and Dog Parks, What Else Do You Need?

We suspect a Southern Living correspondent came to Knoxville on an assignment—maybe March's BaconFest?—and afterwards couldn't tear him- or herself away. No matter the real story: Southern Living has recognized us two, count 'em, two months in a row.

In the May 2010 issue, Dogwood Park was named along with four others as the magazine's "Favorite Dog Parks." The five were listed alphabetically, and readers told "Why you'll love it: It's part of larger Victor Ashe Park, a 115-acre area that also includes a disc golf course, a children's playground, soccer fields, fishing, a 1.5-mile cross-country trail, and a paved greenway for biking or jogging."

In the very next issue, June 2010, an article on the "South's Best Pies" ranked a Top Five, and then included Litton's Coconut Cream pie as part of a 12-way tie for 6th. Okay, they called it "another tasty dozen," but still, very nice.

On second thought, whoever gave that second award may never have visited Knoxville, seeing as the article referenced University of Tennessee students trekking out to Litton's for a slice, and who's ever seen that?
