Earth Day 2010
While there may be a certain irony in loading up the gas-burning car and driving to another city to celebrate Earth Day, Oak Ridge's festival promises to be a lively tribute to sustainable practices. It features an array of local musicians: Thenderfin (11 a.m.), Christabel and the Jons (12:15 p.m.), The Lonetones (Main Stage at 1:15 p.m.), Soul Connection (2:15 p.m.). And, yes, there will be the expected family activities, artisan vendors, and food, but you'll also be able to learn things: "How to Can Vegetables and Fruits" with Heather Guinn of the UT Cooperative Extension, "How to Compost" with Bob Grimac, "Endangered Species" with the Knoxville Zoo, and "Waste Reduction" with Ijams Nature Center.
