Whitechapel Runs Into Trouble on the Road in Germany

In between shows on their latest tour of Europe, at least one member of Knoxville-based death metal band Whitechapel went on an old-school rock-star rampage last month, wrecking a Hamburg hotel room and getting himself detained by police, according to metal gossip and news website Noisecreep. The details of the incident are slim, but the damage reportedly involved mattresses being thrown out of a window, unauthorized use of a fire extinguisher, and a fire alarm. It's not clear exactly who was responsible, either—a representative of the band's label, Metal Blade, says only that "one of the guys" was held by police. Noisecreep reports that the full band made it to the next night's show in Amsterdam. (Whitechapel guitarist Alex Wade tells a slightly different, if no more detailed, version to Steve Wildsmith at Maryville's Daily Times.

The April tour through the U.K., Germany, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Belgium with the Acacia Strain and Impending Doom was Whitechapel's first headlining tour in Europe. The band will be part of the nationwide Summer Slaughter tour with the Black Dahlia Murder and Darkest Hour this summer.
