Longbranch Saloon Celebrates 34 Years

It was a friendly crew of bands and fans that came out to wish the Longbranch Saloon a happy birthday last Wednesday. The bar has been a mainstay of the Cumberland Avenue Strip for 34 years now, in two different locations, and has at one time or another hosted just about every musical talent in town, along with an awful lot of regional and national touring bands. The show last week featured the briefly-reunited Llama Train, along with Madre, Grandpa's Stash, the Tim Lee 3, and R.B. Morris. Morris, who was backed by the TL3 plus Greg Horne on guitar, cut loose with a stomping rock set of favorites from his entire discography. It was enough to get the upstairs floor shaking, like it tends to do, and the happy crowd dancing, like Knoxville crowds often don't. All for five bucks, too. Happy birthday, Longbranch. And, we hope, many more.
