Jack FM Switches to Top 40

The radio station formerly known as Jack FM is now 95.7 Power FM. Though South Central Media's press release on the change described Power FM as "the best of pop, urban, alternative, hip-hop, and rock music," general manager Terry Gillingham says he would not call the new station "urban," though it will be a Top 40 station.

Gillingham said the old Jack FM format of "variety hits" simply wasn't making enough money. Power FM, which features a DJ-free format, targets "women ages 18 to 34, primarily," Gillingham says, and will provide competition to WWST 102.1 FM, the other Top 40 station in town, which features stronger DJ personalities. "We have everything to gain" from the change, Gillingham says.
