Local Album Review

Even though it’s the best looking—daresay, most professional—Will-Fist-Band album to make it into the Metro Pulse office, it nevertheless sounds like one of Will’s groups, staunchly opposed to any faux-naïf, sissy-rock crud. The best parts occur when the songs break down to a simple drum and bass session, and they yell. It’s no use figuring out what the hell they’re actually yelling. At least we know it’s English. Exact words aren’t important, so long as the angst is real. There’s a line between music and noise; Fistful of Crows, however, instructs that the line doesn’t have to be very fine while they distort the music-noise spectrum. Good stuff, that homegrown ass-kicking music, shouldn’t always be polished. This kind of music, disturbing all wannabe socialites and backwards-cap, collared-shirt stiffs, shows us that love/hate relationships aren’t terribly easy to describe—if nothing else, some stories can’t be sung without a little bit of hell-raising. Anything more would be serious faux pas in this town. Keep raising hell.
