Concerts get canceled and rescheduled all the time. But Richard Lloyd's recent cancelation of his scheduled show at Pilot Light tonight with the Tim Lee 3 is especially worrisome in light of recent news that the former guitarist for the legendary New York art-punk band Television was hospitalized after an apparently bizarre and alarming performance in Cleveland earlier this month.
A June 12 message on Lloyd's official Facebook fan page, attributed to "Team Lloyd," announced the abrupt cancelation of the tour: "I regret to inform you that the Richard Lloyd and Grand Strand June 2012 Tour has been cancelled. Richard's health has declined over the past week and on June 11 he was admitted to the hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Again I am sorry for the cancellation."
Details of Lloyd's condition were not provided, but a follow-up Facebook posting on June 15 noted that the guitarist was "feeling much better."
Lloyd and his band, featuring Television drummer Billy Ficca, performed in Cleveland on June 11, the night Lloyd was reportedly hospitalized. A review posted the next day on the Cleveland Scene website offered disturbing details from the show, including an apparent physical confrontation between Lloyd and Ficca before their set.
The show will go on, however: The Tim Lee 3 have recruited Will Fist's Three Man Band to fill out the bill.
