Elton John, Kanye West to Headline Bonnaroo 2014

The 2014 lineup for Bonnaroo was announced last Wednesday via an hours-long "superjam"/comedy skit with Ben Folds, the Flaming Lips, and Saturday Night Live's Taram Killam (the latter as a "hey man" auditioning for a spot in the superjam, clad in a Lumineers-esque getup). The Disc Exchange hosted a watch party for the whole show, which was also streamed live on Bonnaroo's website.

Headlining this year's festival are Elton John, who's making his American festival debut, Lionel Richie, Kanye West, Jack White, Vampire Weekend, the Avett Brothers, and Phoenix. You might remember that West came on stage several hours late after his rescheduled 2008 Bonnaroo performance, and then posted an explanation online blaming festival organizers for, among other things, originally scheduling his performance during the daytime (which would've apparently thrown off his Glow in the Dark tour performance).

Some other performers scheduled to play at Bonnaroo include Knoxville's own Black Lillies, who have graduated from a cafe show to a tent performance (no word yet on whether it'll be This Tent, That Tent, or That Other Tent); Memphis "organic moonshine roots" singer/songwriter Valerie June, Nashville garage-pop outfit Those Darlins, and the current incarnation of Athens, Ga., rockers the Drive-by Truckers will also perform.

Hip-hop fans who turn their nose up at West won't be disappointed in the rest of the lineup, though. Wiz Khalifa, Pusha T, A$AP Ferg, Chance the Rapper, Danny Brown, and Ice Cube will all perform at the festival. Plus, R&B darlings Frank Ocean and Janelle Monáe will be there, too. And EDM golden boy Skrillex is scheduled to play a set and also lead a superjam with as-yet-unnamed "friends."

Other big names include Neutral Milk Hotel, the Flaming Lips, the Arctic Monkeys, Broken Bells, and the Head and the Heart. Tickets are on sale now. Visit bonnaroo.com for the full lineup.
