'Acoustic Guitar' Gives National Props to Local Jazz Guys Rusty Holloway and Jeff Jenkins

A tardy congratulations for some national distinction to local heroes Rusty Holloway, bassist long familiar in Knoxville nightclubs for his work in various local jazz combos, and Jeff Jenkins, estimable guitar teacher at Pick 'n' Grin, for their contribution to Don Stiernberg's Swing 220 album, chosen as one of the best of 2010 by the editors of Acoustic Guitar magazine. Stiernberg, the Chicago jazz mandolinist, already had some local ties through his origins under the tutelage of the late Knoxville-based mandolin legend Jethro Burns, in whose quartet Stiernberg once played.

Also honored on the list was Gatlinburg-based guitarist Bill Mize's album, The Angel's Share.
