A sarcastic e-mail making the rounds at TVA asks the question: Should you be worried about top TVA executives given that the TVA board recently cut retirement benefits for all employees?
The e-mail notes that three TVA executives helping formulate the pension reductions had compensation increases over the last three years of 54 percent, 43 percent, and 15 percent.
There were 20 top executives at TVA employed from 2005 through 2008 who had a compensation increase of 22 percent. A total of 14 of them had compensation increased an average of 40 percent.
The top 50 executives at TVA made $21 million total in 2005 and the top 54 now make $26 million, according to reports to the GAO.
