While his opponents in the gubernatorial race are out holding fund-raisers Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey is forbidden by the ethics law to have a fund-raiser during the legislative session. But in addition to starting late this year on fund-raising, Ramsey will also be prohibited from fund-raising next year, during a session that could last until the May Republican primary, a prospect that could cripple late fund-raising for his campaign.
Ramsey is suggesting that forbidding fund-raisers for people running for offices other than the legislature is not fair and perhaps the law should be changed.
If it were, then the lieutenant governor could hold fund-raisers during session, convenient for lobbyists who have bills pending.
