Time for Ball Practice

ETSU dedicated the Gordon Ball Court practice facility last week in recognition of his "substantial" contributions to the school. The Knoxville attorney is a 1970 graduate of the Johnson City school and has contributed a reported $500,000.

The practice facility will be used by the men's and women's basketball teams. Ball, who grew up in Cocke County, got his law degree at the University of Memphis. He has been a successful class action attorney in Knoxville and a big contributor to Democratic Party politics and is an avid basketball fan. He has represented Cocke County residents in frequent lawsuits attempting to clean up the Pigeon River which has brown effluent from a North Carolina paper mill.
