In Phil Fulmer's last recruiting class as coach, he signed his quarterback of the future, a highly rated prospect out of Virginia named Tajh Boyd. When Lane Kiffen arrived as coach, he withdrew the scholarship saying Boyd wasn't the kind of quarterback he was looking for.
The Vols have struggled this year with a weak quarterback, injured quarterbacks, and playing a freshman quarterback. Meanwhile, Boyd, as a fifth-year senior at Clemson, has them in the Top Ten at 8-1 and he is in the running for the Heisman Trophy. He is the Atlantic Coast Conference all-time leader in touchdowns at 116—93 passing and 23 running.
