Steve Hall May Run for State House

Term-limited Knoxville City Councilman Steve Hall is expected to run for the state House of Representatives next year when incumbent Rep. Stacey Campfield gives up the seat to run for the state senate. Campfield is expected to run for the seat being vacated by state Sen. Tim Burchett, who is running for Knox County mayor.

Hall is a conservative Republican who ran against County Mayor Mike Ragsdale in 2006. He is finishing two terms on City Council.

Meanwhile, Campfield has been using his blog to defend Republican state Sen. Paul Stanley, who is caught up in a sex and blackmail scheme. Stanley had an affair with an intern and her boyfriend is accused of asking Stanley for $10,000 for nude photographs allegedly taken in Stanley's apartment.

Campfield took issue with accounts of the intern being exploited. "Little miss innocent corrupted by an (sic) big bad evil senator? Not so much. More like married to a criminal and dating a few more on the side with probably knowledge of and possibly involvement in the shakedown."
