Would you pass up a visit to a Nashville suburb to be on national television?
Texas Gov. Rick Perry decided he needed to do Dave Letterman's Top Ten List rather than join his Tennessee supporters at a fund-raiser in Franklin last week. After his disastrous memory lapse at a Republican debate, Perry went into damage control. He told Williamson County contributors sorry, he couldn't make it, and instead went on Letterman's Late Show to poke fun at himself with his Top Ten excuses for forgetting one of the Cabinet offices he intended to close if elected. His funny excuses probably got a lot less play than the repeated cable news showings of his funnier debate performance.
If Perry is elected president, perhaps the Department of Energy employees in Oak Ridge can depend on him to forget that it was them he was trying to remember.
