No Pay Default Position

We are sure a bill cosponsored by Tennessee Congressman Jim Cooper will fly through Congress just any day now.

Cooper argues that passing a budget to operate the government is a constitutional requirement of the Congress, therefore any failure to do it should result in Congress members not being paid. In an Op-Ed in the Tennessean he explains that if there is a default due to Congress' failure to cut the deficit and act in a responsible manner, paychecks for Senators and Representatives should cease.
