Kent Williams Aide to Run for Jason Mumpower's Seat

It's one of those rich political ironies. Tennessee House Speaker Kent Williams and Republican Leader Jason Mumpower have been knocking heads since Williams snatched the Speaker's chair out from under Mumpower with help from the Democrats. Now a Williams aide stands a good chance of taking Mumpower's seat.

Mumpower decided not to run for re-election. His district is split in half between Sullivan and Johnson counties. Scotty Campbell, who works for Williams, is from Johnson County and has filed to run. There are four candidates from the Sullivan County portion of the district.
