The Gregory family, of King Pharmaceuticals fame, once had a PAC run by former state Sen. Jim Holcomb, that was a major player in Republican politics statewide. But the family, dissatisfied with election results, disbanded the operation. They have continued to contribute to Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey's PAC that was used to help the GOP take over the state senate.
But the Gregorys are back with a vengeance in the current election cycle, with the methodology changed. Disclosure reports show five members of the family contributed a total of $155,250 to various candidates and to leadership PACs operated by Republican legislators.
Candidates receiving donations were in the Tri-Cities, where the Gregorys are based. The contributions to PACs, some as high as $20,000 and $50,000, are to PACs devoted to electing conservative Republican House members.
