Don Daugherty to Challenge Amy Broyles for County's 2nd District

Former Knox County Democratic Party Chair Don Daugherty is expected to run as an independent against incumbent Knox County Commissioner Amy Broyles in the 2nd District.

Broyles does not have any opposition at present in her Democratic primary race. Daugherty considered running in the 4th District, but incumbent Commissioner Tony Norman decided to run for re-election and Daugherty is one of his supporters. There is no residency requirement in commission races because districts were re-drawn to comply with charter changes in the make up of County Commission.

Broyles had had a clear run. Fellow Commissioner Mark Harmon decided not to run when the two were left in the same district after a charter change eliminated two commission districts in favor of one.
