Assistant District Attorney Leland Price has been much in the news as part of the prosecution team in the murders of Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom. The fourth trial in the gruesome rape/murder opened this week. The prosecution is three for three thus far, resulting in one death penalty and two life without parole verdicts. The current trial is of accomplice Vanessa Coleman.
Insiders say Price is the likely choice of the district attorneys' office to succeed current District Attorney General Randy Nichols when Nichols steps down at the end of his term in 2014. A united front by the existing prosecution team would be a big boost to a candidate for DA. Price is expected to start attending political events once the trials are over.
