Another Scandal in State House

Another member of the Tennessee state Legislature has had a run-in with the law.

State Rep. David Hawk, R-Greeneville, spent a night in jail in Greene County this past weekend on a charge of domestic violence. He had to stay in jail, under the domestic violence law, until he could see a judge on Monday morning. He pleaded not guilty and the complaint stated his wife had a black eye, according to press reports.

Earlier this session, state Rep. Curry Todd, a Republican committee chair from Memphis, was arrested for drunk driving and having a gun in his car. Todd was the sponsor of several gun bills in previous sessions. He resigned from his chairmanship of the State and Local Government Committee but remains in the House.
