Knoxville dentist Julian Mays is exploring support for a run for the state House of Representatives. He is seeking support from the House Republican Caucus to run against state Rep. Gloria Johnson, D-Knoxville.
Johnson will be a top target of the GOP this next election and the Democrats will be offering her full support to keep the seat. Johnson is seen as a rising leader of the Democrats in the Legislature. She has also been leading efforts among local teachers to voice their objections to the pace of education reform.
Jason Emert, a vice-president of a health technology company, has also been exploring a run for the seat.
