Let's try that again.
The showdown over the proposed Midway Road business park that was supposed to take place at a County Commission meeting Monday got delayed yet again. This time the culprit was not a wishy-washy Commission or county mayor, but actual forces of nature, as Monday's snowy freeze led to the meeting's postponement. So it's all coming back again at a rescheduled Commission meeting on Friday, Dec. 17, in the Main Assembly Room of the City County Building. The meeting begins at 1:45 p.m., but the zoning portion that will include consideration of the business park doesn't get under way until 4 p.m.
As detailed in last week's cover story, the fight over Midway between the Development Corporation and local residents has been going on for 10 years. And whatever happens Friday is unlikely to be the final chapter. If Commission votes down the East Knox County Sector Plan that includes the business park, it will have to go back to the Metropolitan Planning Commission for revisions. If it gets the okay, residents—who already blocked the plan once in court—are threatening the possibility of more legal action.
