City Council Meeting: Signage

Knoxville's City Council has an ongoing thing about signage. For two years, city government has been debating whether or not to allow electronic signs in city limits. They now allow a limited number. During the Feb. 10 meeting, they were supposed to vote on an amendment on the electronic sign law that would allow the signs downtown, but they postponed it. Then, during the Feb. 12 special meeting, councilman Bob Becker proposed a task force that would deal with all signs in town, hoping to eliminate what he calls "visual pollution." Expect these and other crucial issues to come up again at this week's meeting.
