CBID Board Meeting; City, County Governments Meet

Next week there are at least three public meetings that merit the citizenry's esteemed consideration: the board of the Central Business Improvement District convenes Monday, Feb. 22 at 11:30 a.m. at 17 Market Square. Then, the same day, Knox County Commission meets at 2 p.m. in the large assembly room of the City-County Building for its monthly spectacle. The following evening, Feb. 23, City Council gathers at 7 p.m. at the same location for its bi-weekly affair.

Now, fair citizenry, wouldn't it be nice to know what relevant issues might be discussed at these often dry, hours-long events, so you can decide which to (not) attend?

Well, tough cookies. The two pillars of local government don't typically release their agendas until the Friday before, so you're just going to have to check their websites later in the week. But two notes of caution: The city enjoys putting up old agendas alongside upcoming meetings to fool local alt-weekly writers into wasting their time; and the Knox County website looks like it was made in 1996, so good luck finding anything at all.

Civic engagement, hoooo!
