And City Government's Off!

In 2010, local government brings the sexy back: To kick things off, on Jan. 5 the Greenways Commission meets at 4 p.m. in the City County Building to discuss—wait for it—the development and maintenance of greenways. Boom. This commission locates and secures funding for greenway projects, and comprises 20 members from across city and county agencies who are appointed by the mayor to three-year terms. Double boom.

If you think that can't be followed, think more better. How about a little thing called the Cumberland Avenue Design Board meeting? That crew—which you really don't want to piss off—meets the very next day, Jan. 6, at 8 a.m. at Panera Bread, 2000 Cumberland Ave.

Ah, but two points do not a trend make, you say? Well, here are two more points: 1) Update your grammar; and 2) on Jan. 7 the City Tree Board meets to quiet the haters. That board's tasked with formulating a master tree plan for all municipal property, as well as conducting education and outreach on the importance of trees. The meeting takes place at 8 a.m. at Ijams Nature Center.

Going to need a bag of ice, a banana, and a five-hour energy drink after this little three-peat. Welcome to a new year.
