</title><link>http://www.metropulse.com/news/2009/dec/02/road-resolutions-2010/?partner=RSS</link><description>Well, the new year is nearly upon us—just after we get through the holiday season with all its hustle and bustle, planning and fretting over gifts and holiday dishes to be cooked. With the advent of January 1, many of us have New Year’s Resolutions on our minds. We resolve to lose weight, get busy exercising, fix something around the house, etc. As for myself, I have learned not to set the bar too high, to keep things reasonable and attainable.

I’ve made it a habit to regularly look through the offerings at Biker Rags and anywhere else I happen to find these little stickers—some of them really sum up why we ride quite well.

I hear them day in and day out; shovels sound the best. I can always tell if it’s a metric cruiser—some of them sound pretty good, but none make music like Milwaukee.

</title><link>http://www.metropulse.com/news/2009/jul/17/phone-call/?partner=RSS</link><description>Yesterday was a great day. I had planned a peaceful day with my girlfriend, sleeping in late and doing a late brunch here at home, then some easy chores, a run to the storage unit, a stop-by to see my old friends/family at my former workplace, then a whole lotta nothin’ until dinner. We had planned a nice meal with good friends—this was a special occasion calling for whatever we wished off the menu, just sitting and communing with one another over some great food. I had the cat in the bag, going into a late June sunset, drinking a glass of Siena red wine, talking and joking and laughing into the night.

</title><link>http://www.metropulse.com/news/2009/jun/29/essence-cruising/?partner=RSS</link><description>With our choice of transportation we make a statement, riding in the wind, which differentiates us from the cage dwellers. We motorcyclists are a motley crew indeed, taken as a whole—we all see the sportbikers with their flashy and insanely fast machines, the “wingdingers” and Beemer riders touring to destinations unknown, the “scooter trash” zipping nimbly through the urban sprawl, more and more trikes as the boomers and their bodies get older. By and large we are seeing the majority of today’s riders on cruising machines, and this is no accident. Cruising is probably the most satisfying way to roll down the road for the average rider.

My siblings were visiting town and I had been hanging out with them at Mom’s house. However, there was a friend of mine that I needed to run into for one reason or another, so I fired up the bike and headed for the Old City.

The guy I was riding with was one of my close friends, someone I had put in many miles with and many hours riding side by side. I have just a few friends that I would ride beside at speed.

It is pretty much accepted that if you ride long enough, you are going to wreck. Most of the guys I know that ride, myself included, have a number of wrecks to our credit. Sometimes it is gravel where there should be none. Sometimes it is just plain bad judgment.
