The motto at Oodles is “keep it fresh,” and they purchase lots of ingredients from the Market Square Farmer’s Markets and work with a grower from the University of Tennessee Gardens. They pick out a few classic foods, like duck breast and mac ’n’ cheese, and do them really well. Another chance for great food: the Oodles Italian brunch on Sundays, with frittatas, French Toast Panini and the like carrying the day. And the weekly specials are a great way to get a taste of the Oodles menu at super-value prices. Catering available! Offering 60 types of wine by the glass and a limited liquor bar. Non-smoking with patio for smoking. Does not accept American Express or checks.
From YUMMM! The Metro Pulse Restaurant Guide:
One of the first businesses to rejuvenate Market Square eight years ago, Oodles offers a uniquely Knoxville dining experience, from the cool restored building to the personality in each individual seating area to the people-watching opportunities at its window seating and from the patio in nice weather. Add to that its seasonal menu of Italian American comfort food and wine list notable for both its variety and its affordability, and you have a consistent hit.
An ever-growing group of regulars returns again and again for dishes like pesto fondue, summer vegetable lasagna, and Tuscan Shrimp and Grits. Another chance for great food: the Oodles Italian brunch, with frittatas, French Toast Panini and the like carrying the day.
Weekly specials are a great way to get a taste of the Oodles menu at super-value prices: Monday lunches include $5 spaghetti and meatballs; complimentary beverages come with lunch on Tuesdays, and Monday-Saturday lunch features a Mac ’n’ Cheese of the day—same for Ravioli at dinner on Monday-Saturdays. Then there’s the cozy and delicious “Dinner for two” special every night, which includes two caesar salads, two pasta entrees, and a bottle of wine $36-$39.
Oodles has lots of fun events going on, including wine dinners that focus on wine and food pairings. And oh, their wine—voted Best Wine List for the past five years by Metro Pulse readers, and we all know they know best.
