From YUMMM!, the Metro Pulse restaurant guide:

Located inside of downtown’s Crowne Plaza Hotel, Mahogany’s Restaurant is something significantly more than a hotel-guest dining option. For several years, locals in the know have appreciated the hospitality, value, and quality that this place offers.

Friday nights are nearly famous at Mahogany’s because that’s the night that the prime rib and seafood buffet takes center stage. It’s a tempting array of seafood, shellfish, and sushi that sits alongside a made-to-order pasta bar and just about everything you’d want for a perfect salad. Add to that a slab of juicy prime rib, and it’s not only a great meal with lots of the good stuff, but a fine value as well. Also, dinner guests are accompanied on piano by Sarah Bommelje.

And while Friday nights bring plenty of fun and flavor, Mahogany’s offers equally good dining choices at both breakfast and lunch. There’s a standing menu of good food that’s available at every mealtime. But at breakfast and lunch, it’s an option that’s frequently overlooked in favor of the variety and quality of good food offered buffet-style.

Their breakfast buffet is a two-tiered affair that’s available seven days a week. The Deluxe Continental is full of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals and plenty of bagels, breads, and pastries that can leave the light eater perfectly sated. However, heartier appetites and folks who like to start the day with a warm stomach can climb up to the Summit Hill option and add a lot of breakfast heaven for just a little extra dough. It’s mostly traditional Southern favorites: biscuits and gravy, smoked bacon, roasted apples, corned beef hash… the list goes on and on. Plus, unlike so many breakfast buffets, the eggs are fresh and real. Coffee hounds can breath a sigh of relief—Mahogany’s serves Starbucks.

The buffet at lunch, continuing the Southern theme, is laden with the kind of happy food that defined the childhoods of many East Tennesseans. Traditional comfort food like fried chicken, macaroni and cheese and, of course, fried okra and more aren’t as easy to find downtown as once they were. This down-home option is available Monday through Friday.

There’s added value for local diners who visit Mahogany’s: the Crowne Plaza happily comps parking during mealtime—just ask! And groups looking for a place to meet and eat can take advantage of a private dining area that seats about 40 people.

Mahogany’s isn’t just a place to get plenty of food, it’s a place to enjoy the kind of good food that make folks happy.
