Inhabiting a former gas station off Maryville Pike, Love That BBQ is the perfect roadside hole-in-the-wall barbecue. Vestal native Walter "Boss Hog" Love and his family put a lot of care into their 'cue—marinating their meats before smoking them, and making their own sauces. There's pork, chicken, brisket as well as smoked sausage and bologna. Be sure to try the homemade sides, too—especially the hushpuppies and the beans. And if you're lucky, the banana pudding will have been made with Nutter Butter cookies instead of Nilla Wafers.

Best BBQ in Knoxvile by far! The couple that owns the restaurant work right the register and front counter and were very friendly. Had the smoked bologna sandwich with coleslaw which was different and very very good, best coleslaw I have ever had. The lady got the BBQ sandwich with beans and potato salad. The BBQ blows Calhoun's and Sweet Pea's out of the water which is really saying something because I love both of those places. Homemade potato salad was also top notch. Prices are very reasonable and only about 3 miles from downtown. Can't wait to go back.

Sadly, Bonnie Love passed away in January. I have only been to the restaurant a few times when I have been in South Knoxville but she always made you feel you we part of their home.

I am very, very sorry to hear that. She was a wonderful chef and host.
