Randy Burleson’s original 1992 flagship Aubrey’s has gradually expanded to six area locations, from Powell to Maryville and Lenoir City, each with a dedication to bountiful comfort food and super-attentive service. The menu delivers home-cooked classics from steaks, fillets, and sirloins that are hand-cut daily to spinach con queso to chicken fingers. Some of the traditions have an extra helping of personality, like the restaurant’s popular Citrus Grilled Salmon, over-sized grilled Cranberry Chicken salad with candied pecans and feta cheese, or Granny Smith Steak Salad accented with roasted walnuts.
The service staff is knowledgeable, attentive but with a light touch, and other amiable amenities include 11-7 Happy Hour, call-ahead seating (but no reservations), and an extensive beer and wine list.
There are Southern overtones among the all-American menu, including baby back ribs, Peanut Crusted Catfish Fingers, and cheddar cheese grits. Specialty flavors of the house—or should we say houses?—include a Southwestern “Rattlesnake” seasoning that spices up an alfredo sauce ladled over linguine and grilled chicken, and house dressings made fresh every day (except the fat-free version) like blue cheese and house buttermilk garlic ranch. The signature dessert is Chocolate Turtle Cake, boasting Hershey’s chocolate and Breyer’s ice cream—real food to the finish.
