  • Willie Gibbs and the Illusionaires, playing at the Blue Note, an intimate jazz club beside Gordon’s Townhouse on Cumberland Avenue, probably in the early 1960s. Members included, from left, Joe Kishiyama on drums, June Ballinger on bass, Rocky Wynder on sax, Willie Gibbs on piano, Sidney Young on trumpet, sometime drummer Bud Thomas on vocals, and saxophonist Lance Owens at far right in both photos. Young, not a regular member but one who frequently sat in with the band, is still around.
