THE REAL JOHN MAYER: Back in 1992, when the Metro Pulse office was located in the sweaty upper floors of the Bijou building, a questionable-looking character calling himself John Mayer walked in and pitched the idea of running a local detective comic. Despite hearing what the editors could afford to pay, he nevertheless agreed to the terms and Knoxville Confidential opened its case file.
