Leap into the arts and culture of Knoxville.
• About the sponsor
Arts and culture have a tremendous role to play in bringing visitors to our fair city and in enriching the lives of those who call it home. The Arts & Heritage Fund, which is managed by the Arts & Culture Alliance of Greater Knoxville, is a careful steward of private funds for arts and cultural organizations and heritage sites. Its goal is to provide support for local arts and culture groups, broaden access to arts and cultural offerings, and foster excellence in arts and culture locally. This year the fund granted more than $140,000 to 22 local organizations, the beneficiaries' missions ranging from operatic and orchestral performance to educational programs at some of greater Knoxville's favorite historic sites. Monies are in good hands, with a board of hometown faces weighing the annual grant applications, and the fund is managed leanly, with only 3.5 percent of donated funds going toward administration last year.
• About the artist
My passion from childhood has always been drawing and painting. Growing up I traveled the world due to my father being in the military. This intensified my passion for painting by the intriguing amount of different landscapes that I encountered. The awe inspiring trees, coastal, and sunsets were a constant inspiration.
At the age of 15, my family settled in Knoxville, TN. My desire for art continued all during high school. Although I have not had any formal training since, I have a natural gift and love for painting.
I have worked with numerous mediums, but find myself most comfortable and passionate about acrylics and watercolors. My art work include canvas paintings and large scale murals in private homes and businesses. My most recent work is my series of dragonflies, their grace and beauty is amazing, one to be shared with the world.
I have numerous canvas paintings that are shown in many different venues around Knoxville. I am an artist at The Gallery Nuance, You can also find my work at The Earth To The Old City, Stillhouse Tavern, Green Earth Emporium, The Artist Village, Kaleidoscope Gifts, Ijams nature center, Mulligans, Carousel Gardens and Dragonfly Art Dimensions in Gatlinburg , Jim Gray Gallery in Pigeon Forge , Union County Arts and Cumderland Ridge Primitives ,I have had multiple showings at the Emporium.
