It appears that David Davenport will be rejoining the Knox County Sheriff’s Department after losing a race for sheriff in Jefferson County. Davenport lost his job as sheriff of Jefferson County in 2010 and has been holding down a position in the cold-case squad for Knox County Sheriff Jimmy “JJ” Jones.
Davenport, a retired Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agent, took a leave of absence from Knox County to try and recapture his old job, so he is eligible to return.
It may be a little tense. There were reports that he campaigned with support from former Knox County colleague Bobby Waggoner, who ran a bitter primary campaign against Jones.
