There He Goes Again. And Again.

You would expect Democrats to criticize state Sen. Stacey Campfield, but this week he drew a rebuke from the state Republican Party chair, who called on him to apologize and said that Campfield’s remarks on his blog have “no place in public discourse.” The remarks were characterized by Republican Party chair Chris Devaney as “over the top” and “repugnant.”

Campfield compared bragging about the number of people signing up for Obamacare to bragging about the number of Jews signing up for “mandatory” German train rides in the 1940s.

Democratic chair Roy Herron said Campfield’s remarks were “outrageous, pathetic and hateful.”

Social media blew up and the remarks garnered national attention.

Campfield is opposed for re-election by Knox County Commissioner Richard Briggs in the state primary in August.
