Word to the Wise?

After over 40 years in politics we are sure that U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander doesn’t need to read any books offering advice on elections or public service. In fact, he could probably write the book himself.

Oh, wait. He did.

It’s called Lamar Alexander’s Little Plaid Book, subtitled “152 rules, lessons and reminders about running for office and making a difference whether it’s for President of the United States or president of your senior class.”

We would note No. 141: “Serve two terms and get out.”

It was published in 1998. But in 2014 Alexander is running for a third term in the U.S. Senate.

We also liked No. 28: “If you serve in Washington stay long enough to get vaccinated but not infected.”
