Concerning your article about how Washington Pike got its name [Ask Doc Knox, Nov. 7, 2013], here is another option, perhaps the correct one. Washington Presbyterian Church, located on Washington Pike, was founded in 1802 and was named in honor of George Washington who had recently died in 1799. The story from the church members and the old-timers in the area is that Washington Pike was named because it went out to Washington Presbyterian Church. Sounds simple enough to me, and it makes sense.
